Shrub Seeds
A juniper bush … How do I know what to look seeds.Dont collect? Is Berry?

I have read that the seeds of juniper have a system male and female pollination. But what are the differences in sex? What do the seeds look like? You can also cut part of juniper and scrub? (As a sucker and replant it?) If yes, where do you cut?

Hello, yes, berry and seed is usually better distributed / replanted by birds. It has a long germination rate in most species differently. Juniper is a shrub that is male or female to produce of fertile seeds, both sexes must be present. The seeds (berries) look small blue berries. Juniper is an evergreen shrub or small tree in the cypress, or Cupressaceae, family. It is slow growing and some specimens are taller than 5 feet, though heights of up to 10 meters have been recorded in other parts of its range. Presents several different growth forms, which vary from columnar to erect and bushy, spreading or mat formation and shrubs. Juniper is unusual in being able to grow both acidic and alkaline soils. The foliage is composed of small blue-green needles that are up to 1 cm. long and have a wide white stripe, or band of stomata on its inner surface. The needles grow in whorls of three alternate on the branches, and are sharp to the touch. The crust is brown on young plants, but turns gray as it ages, and is shed in thin strips. Juniper is dioecious, meaning individual plants are either male or female, unlike most species of trees, where both flowers male and female are produced in the same tree. The male flowers appear as yellow flowers near the ends of the branches in spring and release pollen, which are dispersed by the wind. The female flowers are in the form of very small groups of scales, and after pollination by the wind, they grow to become soft, as cones. Side irregular shaped area, the berries are green at first, but after 18 months ripen to a dark blue-purple and 0.6 cm. in diameter. Each berry contains 3 to 6 seeds, although some of these are often sterile due to insect infestations. The seeds are triangular, hard and black, are dispersed by birds that feed of berries. Because of its long maturation period, juniper berries occur throughout the year and is usually possible to see them at different stages of development in the same plant. The seeds are slow to germinate and usually require two winters of dormancy before they sprout and start growing. Juniper is a slow growing species. In good condition growth, can grow to 28 cm. in one year, and flowering and seed production begins when plants are 7-10 years old. Shrubs live an average of 100-120 years. Juniper also can reproduce vegetatively, this usually occurs in older, is dying. Shrubs of age collapse, and its branch offices touch the ground, will form roots and produce new growth, so that a circular pattern of plant forms around the original forest. Like a shadow of species intolerant, Juniper is found in more open types of forests, forests of birch and pine forests typically. Cypress Tree
How do I know if Italian cypress survive?

Hello everyone, I have about 12 Italian cypress trees. sit still 15 GAL containers.I was away for a while and nobody them. Most took over the trees have leaves now brown in the lower half of tree everywhere but I still see green with brown leaves. They not as broad as they used to be in the bottom half. 1 / 3 top of most of the trees look lush and green, no problems there. Also some of the trees are not as thick as they used to be. I want to recover but if you think you can not go back and finally dies, something i wuld another plant instead of planting those. Any insight would be welcome. Something I can do to accelerate their receovery? Thanks, yes, no one watered them. Can be left in pots for another 1-2 months? some are as high as 12 feet. thanks

Italian Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) are actually very drought tolerant trees. They grow 80-100 feet tall and only 3 feet. wide. However, if you bought in a container then you need water every day. This is true for most type trees and shrubs outdoors. The container holds heat so the tree needs more water, especially during spring, summer and fall. I would recommend planting is immediate and using a root stimulator simtulare good root growth …. duhhh. Fertilize with a fertilizer evergreen … ask for it at the local nursery. But wait at least 2 weeks before fertilization and that there is little risk of burning the roots. If the tree survives, it will look bad for at least one year or until next spring, when (hopefully) that will generate new growth. Most Evergreen cypress trees can not be rebuilt new growth during the winter season. If you do not look good in late April 2008, I would recommend something else. Or get something now, it's your call.

Shrub Potted

Year around enjoyment will be there when you choose a potted tree or shrub that is evergreen and has attractive bark, even when they have left their leaves. They are excellent choices for containers, if you need a large plant for a given site. Maybe a Christmas tree?

Basically, the only limit the size of tree you can plant will be its ability to lift the container. There are special drill lifts available, however, perhaps a group of many shrubs and smaller trees is more practical. If in a windy place, the top-heavy trees can be easily taken down, and damaged. With large containers, make sure you place the container in the base of the units before filling with soil and plant. the wheels are great and very useful when moving around the plant as seasonal change or to protect it from winter chills away from strong wind or the brutal sun.

In many areas, a large tree in a container is all you need to add a dramatic focal point to your patio, deck or patio. They are an investment, so make sure you know what they want when visiting garden store or nursery.

If your garden or balcony is overlooked by a window in the vicinity of a certain height, you must select an evergreen for year-round privacy. So if your space is limited, you might consider a large tree in a long truck, so all foliage can spread like a canopy over a seating area, with the added advantage of giving shade while affording privacy.

When faced with a wall or fence will have to cover or camouflage with well-spaced shrubs or trees. The effect of containers spaced along the wall or wall gives an aspect finish without the feeling of being closed in some of the plants that were considered to be conifers such as Chamaecyparis, Juniperus and Picea species, the Eucalyptus gunnii and boxwood (Buxus). All are suitable for garden planters and containers. Small or dwarf varieties are great, are easy to manage more and are generally more slow.

Each of the containers may be surrounded by colored annuals throughout the season to add color and variety in the potted tree.

If you are choosing to plant shrubs in your containers, be sure to check that there are drainage holes at the bottom and place the pieces of broken crockery or styrofoam at the bottom to increase drainage and not plugging the holes. Fill the pot with fresh clay-based potting mix (no peat please) and fill to where the plant can withstand the container in the ground, leaving two inches apart on the rim of the pot.

Place the shrub in its container (the one who brought home from the nursery) in the center of the pot and begin filling in around it, making sure the soil is firmly packed. Want to create a hole to plant in fall at exactly the right place at the correct depth. If you do not have a center, repeat a second time. Gently remove the bush in the container outside the pot, leaving intact the hole. Make sure the plant is well watered at this point. Then carefully remove the shrub from its container and tease the roots on the edge of the roots to grow outward. Gently lower the bush into the hole created, add more soil if necessary. Be sure to water well to eliminate air pockets. Secret: Place a piece of crockery in the corner of the finished container and pour water on it – that will have an even flow of water and not to expose the roots.

Finally, the dispersion of gravel or small river stone in the thin layer around the bush. This is a lovely decorative touch and serves to keep moisture in the ground without excessive evaporation.

Potted Shrub

Many people are considering bonsai simply as a tree, but it is not. Bonsai is a peace of Japanese art, the recreation of nature in a style miniature, a secret desire to exalt the nature and also to bring nature into the living space, only the performance of the external conditions of growth.
Hibiscus Bonsai

You can have your own bonsai, but you have to love it and your feelings all the care, because you have to know that bonsai is a pretentious tree and very spoiled.
Not all plants can become bonsai shrubs, but trees and shrub plants. It is so easy to make a bonsai, especially to care, but you can live with that because it longeval (can live for a few years hundreds) and a real natural heritage. Here are some steps for you to fallow for the best care bonsai tree.
• To start, take a potted shrub (Hibiscus, Gardenia, Azalea, etc.). Depending on the size of what you would like your bonsai to have ever choose a bush or a mature minor.
• Use of machines to cut the garden, make the first cut, after the original form of the plant.
• Remove the bush cut in the special bonsai pot. The base of the bonsai container must be perforated, so that excess water can flow, ensure drainage. For procedure to make the roots easier and not be destroyed, remove the plant with soil and place it in a bucket of water. Thus, the soil will fall into the water, cleaning of the roots.
• Cut 1 / 3 of the roots of shrubs.
• Set at the base of the pot with a towel (it will stop the progress of unwanted insects) then add a layer of gravel (for drainage and maintenance of land and also in the balance of the pot).
• Fill the pot, 2.5 cm pot with soil mixture (with respect to the ground, care of bonsai species preferences).
• Paste the bush, and the elimination of the roots, and add another layer more of soil up to 2.5 cm from the end of the pot, allowing irrigation.
• Cut back the foliage so that the shrub looks like a bonsai.
• After much water the bonsai becoming. After planting, bonsai does not need much water to be beautiful and to grow well. So water once a day or two days depending on the species, just to keep the soil moist and fertilize regularly, in small amounts, it is preferable to use a slow-acting fertilizer.
• Add above ground decorative stones.

This is just the beginning, have a bonsai is like caring for a pet, as the pampered bonsai is a plant with needs individuals.

Variegated Shrub

Next to the landscape importance of trees is that of shrubs that grow in our gardens, parks, landscape foundation, street borders, and landscapes trade. Thousands of different types of shrubs are grown for ornament in the pastures, yards, and borders, but only a couple of varieties are available for purchase at your local nursery for planting, and growing. Many shrubs are selected and grown on a basis of intelligent buying of flowering hedges, resistance Cold evergreen hedges no flowers, berry bushes, and deciduous shrubs. Many shrubs with leaves shine brightly in the autumn and winter.

Although it is common for some shrub stems to die from shading out, they will be renewed by new shoots, and as trees, shrubs live for years and is considered a good property, investment a long time, and a permanent fixture in the landscape.

Usually planting shrubs, hedges, privacy will be grown to a point in 4 to 5 years, the privacy screen will be vigorously solid and dense enough to cover what is behind it.

Some shrubs thrive in dry soils and other soils in the humid but most shrubs and hedges fall in between and require well drained growing areas. All other possible growing extremes are important for planting shrubs and hedges such as altitude, shade, wind exposure, and soil relative fertility levels. Azaleas, for instance, grow well underneath the shade of most of trees, including pine trees, and the rapid depreciation and soon die, if planted to grow in full sun. Azaleas must have organic matter assimilated the soil to thrive, and the proper acidity (pH) of soil is required for azalea plants to live. Pine straw is often effective to keep azaleas free weeds.

Holly shrubs are clearly different, very flexible and versatile in the landscape.

Your tree is suffering from the stain or strawberry or strawberry anthracnose, which infects the fruiting strawberry plants and their varieties trees. You need to buy a fungicide and immediately try to control more damage to trees. The best fungicide to use is "Daconil 2787, available in all major garden centers. I have used this product for over 20 years and swear by it. Controls over 100 different garden and fungal diseases .. Ortho makes this product .. Mix according to label and treat the trees on top of leaves and the bottom with a hand or backpack sprayer. This will not reverse any damage that has already been done, only the control of disease in infected leaves no .. Other treatment should be repeated 12 to 14 days after the first … Hope this helps. Good luck and Happy Easter! Here are a couple of links that explain these diseases … PS. I see that has changed Ortho Daconil name to "Ortho Multi-Purpose Fungicide .. Bush Shrub

If you have a shrub or bush to move, do not worry – the movement may be easier than you may think. In general, smaller trees will transplantation better than larger plants, more established.

Spring is generally the best time to transplant shrubs and bushes. During this time, there is more moisture in the soil, the climate is cool and the plants grow quickly. Still, some transplanted plants may go into shock in one year after transplantation, which means they produce little or no foliage or flowers. If this occurs, normal growth should resume next year.

Transplanting Guide

1) Trim the plant to be transplanted. Cut about a third of all the plant. Plants with less support, your shrubs and bushes can focus more on restoring its root system, once in your new home.

2) Dig wide and deep around the plant so it can be easily removed. The goal is to keep the roots intact as much as possible, resulting in fewer strokes.

3) Many people are tempted to shake the ground from the root system after removing the plant. Do not do this. If may well make it easier to transport, it can break the root system.

4) The hole in the new location must be twice as large as the root system of the plant.

5) Be sure to use a broad mix of the organic soil and soil in the new hole.

6) Gently set the plant in its new hole. Examine the plant to see which way is best viewed with ranking purposes.

7) Make sure the shrub is planted in the same depth it was originally.

8) Fill the hole with a mixture of soil and condiditoner ground. Make sure the plant does not lean in the hole.

9) After filling the hole, press firmly on the ground.

10) Water deeply and completely. Soil must be moist all the time from three to four weeks after transplantation. A layer of two fifty-eight inches of mulch will help keep the soil moist.
