Whenever you mention the words "Japanese Food", people almost always come with a specific dish in mind – sushi. Thus, sushi has become the flagship of Japanese cuisine in almost everywhere.
In ancient times, the word "sushi", initially referred to the fish preserved in vinegar. Centuries later, this dish has become a full meal in itself. Now, the staples of sushi that include readily available ingredients such as Japanese rice, seaweed and dried seafood. Because shellfish are purchased locally some even enjoy eating raw.
However, if you are among the few who resist to eat this dish in the traditional way, here is the best Japanese food recipe for you – California Maki.
To do this, you need the following:
– 5 cups of steaming Japanese short grain rice
– Crab sticks
– Cucumber (cut into strips)
– Ripe mangoes (cut in strips)
– Wasabi (Japanese horseradish paste)
– Light soy sauce
– The sheets of nori (dried seaweed)
– Japanese Mayonnaise
Tools needed:
– Bamboo sushi mat
– Cling Wrap
Preparation:
- If the freshly cooked rice, and leave aside to cool.
- Cover the sushi mat with plastic film and put the nori on top.
- Spread an even layer of rice on top of nori. Exit an allocation of approximately one inch in its top edge. (Grant is required to ensure the nori together after wrapping.)
- Then, arrange sticks of crab, mango and cucumber strips in a file at least an inch from the bottom edge.
- Everything starts rolling together in one record. Pack the ingredients as close as possible to a better presentation.
- Cut the california maki rolled in smaller portions. Since sushi rice is sticky, this is best done with a sharp knife wet.
- Arrange on a platter, cover with Japanese mayonnaise and serve with wasabi sauce light soy.
