Fruit Bearing
Is there any way to make a fruit tree does not bear fruit?

We have an apricot tree in our backyard, and while I like the shade it provides, during the spring and early summer fruit falls to the ground and causes a terrible ant problem. Is there anything we can do to stop the tree bear fruit short of the tree removed? That's the last resort, but we will if we have to do! It's going crazy, and we can enjoy the patio because of it!

Oh for the love of mercy … There is a product that will do it, but I can not for the love of …. remember what is called! It's from a company called Ferti-Lome (Hi Performance could also have something). The intention was to crab apples, but I suspect it would also work on his apricot (relates the trees). I would consult with your local garden center or nursery independent. I doubt that the big box stores carry such a specialized product. You have to spray the tree, while in flower. The spray does something to slow the flowers. Sorry, can not remember the name of the product, but at least I am sure that the product manufacturer. Hope this helps
