If you have a new home and this is the first lawn some things are different. Mainly have to do the cleaning and obtain the appropriate level before working on the planting.

You do not have to mess with hoses or water wastage since all irrigation is a time. However, these types of systems are very expensive and simply can not be an option for you.
Most people will use commercial sprays that can be bought very cheap at any discount or home store. When using regular sprinklers, be sure to move them to different places in your garden for all the lawn is watered evenly. If you do this, you will have some without water spots and grass will be uneven.
Be careful not to over water. Over watering your lawn is more damaging than the lack of water. That's because most turf grasses can handle dry spells, but not flooding.
Most grasses requiring 1 1.5 "of water per week. This is enough water to moisten the soil to 4 to 6" below the surface of clay soils and 8 – 10 "for sandy soils. Of course, the natural rain will provide some of your irrigation needs.
Do not guess how much water your lawn is receiving. To measure the contribution of Mother Nature, invest in a rain gauge. If at the end of the week which helped rather, hold to add more.
