Foxglove Dwarf

Most times, plant gardens only to watch them. We're going to day care and find little 6 packs of garden plants and arrange them in the garden to grow and flourish in an artistic pattern. This works fine, but it's so hard to bring the beauty inside and put them in a glass when they are so well off. With a garden Cutting is not trying to create a perfect landscape, rather you want a garden that works for you and to produce large quantities of cut flowers. You can place your garden cut in a unused corner of your yard, out of the way, so do not feel like it
needs just right.

Why are my plants so short?
You will notice that most of the 6 packs of nurseries produce neat compact plants with stems too short to make great flower arrangements. We do not know is the industry nurseries has spun a conspiracy against tall plants. Nice seems gardeners as neat gardens, not growing tall plants that require a constant effort to prevent it from moving further in the slightest rain or wind. However, the best cut flowers from the upper floors not 'dwarfs' as common these days. If you want to find the best varieties of cut flowers you'll have to ask for them by name. They are still there, but probably
one must avoid the big box stores and buy from your local nursery or online.

Here's our Top 10 list of flower varieties excellent Court:

Dianthus Amazon Series (neon purple, cerise and pink)
I can not say enough about this plant is essentially a "super-charged 'william sweet! It's incredibly resistant, it blooms in very cold climates and flowers all summer, even at temperatures above 100 degrees! Bright, showy, tall, with a beautiful foliage. Cut flower will last for weeks in a vase. Unlike most of the Sweet Williams, this Dianthus bloom the first year and is perennial rather than biennial.

Rudbeckia Indian Summer:
Margarita big and beautiful as the black-eyed Susan flowers straight sturdy stems. It blooms all summer, and has an excellent vase life. Re-seeds freely, but not invasive. There is actually a perennial constant, but re-seeding your property back
each year.

Godetia grace of series:
Spring flowers, but what a show! Tall stems that need support. Plant early spring for late spring / early
summer flower.

Foxglove (Digitalis) Camelot:
Unlike most digital, this series of flowers the first year. Tall stems with tubular flowers funny. Much more tolerant
heat digitialis most, most of the flowers of summer for us.

Peony Coral Charm:
Expensive and difficult to find, but worth every penny! Magnificent large coral pink flowers that fade to white on the vase. Pick up a button to enjoy the entire show. Peonies take about 3 years to become established enough to be whiter
cut flowers, so they have a little patience.

Freesia Dukaat:
Bright yellow with a lovely fragrance of spicy apricot jam, this spring blooming bulbs are among our favorites in
the farm. Zone 5 or higher only.

Sunflower Sunbeam:
An unusually focused on green sunflower, tall and strong stems. The flowers are medium to a sunflower and long lasting which makes them perfect for bouquets.

Zinnia Uproar Rose:
Zinnia Tall with huge purple flowers pink. Always in bloom throughout the summer and long vase life.

Snapdragon Rocket:
Snapdragon is an excellent example of the will of the nursery industry of dwarf plants garden. Rocket is an excellent cut
flower growing 3 feet tall and offering an excellent vase life. Remember to provide support.

Larkspur:
A great spring bloomer with long stems. Plant the seeds in cold soils. Best to plant in fall or late winter before the soil above 60 degrees. Re-seeds freely. Available in purple, pink and white.

Provide technical support:

Well, now you've found your excellent varieties of cut flowers and are planted with love your garden, do not forget that grow tall and need support. It is always easier to provide support for their stories high before coming to them to fight after being knocked down. You can support the bamboo plants resistant tomato cages or a network of poly network. In the business cut flower use a plastic mesh grille called Hortonova Espalier (www.groworganic.com) supported by 4 'pieces of 3 / 8 inch steel rods driven into the ground. You essentially create a horizontal plane of the compensation for
that stems flowers can grow through, a little industrial, but very effective. Remember that this is not your garden-show
This is your cutting garden, which is well if it looks a little rough. The beautiful part is in vases at home!

Fertilizers and Pests:

Growing flowers organically is easy, Indeed, most flowers prefer a moderately fertile soil. All chemical fertilizers are only going to make their plants too high, weak and susceptible to pests anyway. Start with good soil mixed with loose
a lot of well-rotted compost. Avoid compost 'pseudo' with plenty of bark. Bark is the fertilizer and depleted soil nutrients. Good quality compost should have the consistency of coffee beans. In most cases it is better to leave pests in a cutting garden to be. Many of them are beneficial and disturbing error / ecosystem of plants with insecticides only create more problems in the final. Be patient, let balance the bugs themselves and have some lemonade, cut flowers will be better without the intervention of all those people. However, you will have to do some weeding after you finish your lemonade. Be sure to remove all weeds before they flower and set seed to avoid a nightmare of weeds next year!

Happy The garden!
