Known worldwide as the home of Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida is undoubtedly the entertainment capital of the world fleet. Most people are familiar with the Disney name, but very few realize that the total Disney experience is composed of several different parks, with the Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, Disney-MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach Water Park, River Country Water Park and Pleasure Island. The entertainment parks are of course the # 1 attractions that draw millions of visitors each year to Orlando and the adjacent towns of Kissimmee and Lake Buena Vista, which are the locations of many of the attractions of the park. However, central Florida offers much to see and do besides theme parks.

The Harry P. Leu Gardens is located just minutes from downtown Orlando and consists of 50 acres of botanical magic. The gardens house one of the largest collections of camellias in America North and the Leu House Museum listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Orlando Museum of Art is considered one of the finest art museums in the southern United States, with superb collections of American art, ancient American and African art more excellent education programs.

As in all of Florida, many private golf and public courses dot the landscape of Orlando and the surrounding areas of Central Florida. Many of the major courses of action are limited to resort guests only.

Cracker Jack Stadium, completed in 2002, is home to spring training baseball club of the Atlanta Braves. Spring training games at the stadium offers the opportunity to see professional players around before the regular season gets underway.

Orlando has its own basketball franchise in the NBA and The Orlando Magic play about 40 of his regular-season games in the 17,500-seat TD Waterhouse Center, which is their home.

** Central Florida Natural Attractions

The Blue Springs State Park, located near Cassadaga, is approximately 40 miles (65km) north of Orlando. The park is a historic area that was home to the Timucuan Indians for hundreds of years and is now a leader in the fight to protect Florida's manatees endangered.

The great Ocala National Forest Reserve is known for lakes and natural springs, and offers excellent facilities for hiking, canoeing, fishing and swimming. The park is located about 60 miles (96km) northwest of Orlando and near the city of Ocala.

The reserve consists of three main areas of spring. The springs Juniper has beautiful crystal clear waters and is an excellent canoe. Trails through cypress forests are a feature of both ate Salt Springs and Alexander Springs.

A popular local attraction is the Lake Eaton Sinkhole, which is 80ft (24m) deep and 450 feet (135 m) in diameter. It has a staircase leading to the bottom. Near Lake Eaton offers a popular place for swimming.
